A Letter From Yvonne...

Dear Friends,

Nearly two years ago you put your confidence in me by electing me your Mayor.  I was humbled and inspired by your support and went to work to fulfill my promises to you to create jobs, to support green spaces and to make this a more inclusive government.

With the help of the City Council, we have accomplished much in this first term. We have passed bonds to build roads, to improve our parks and to build a greenway around downtown. We have begun the redevelopment of High Point Road and created a Sustainability Committee to help us build an environmentally friendly city.

But there is still work to be done. The general economic recession has placed many of our citizens at financial risk.  We must work even harder to recruit industry and to support small business.  We need to support our police department to keep the city safe, and we must continue to watch city spending.

My vision for Greensboro has always been one of unity, not fracture or division, progress, not defeat, and economic prosperity that reaches out to all in our city.
I hope you will join with me in manifesting this vision.

So, I am asking you for your support once again as I campaign for a second term as Mayor of Greensboro. I would like to continue the good work that we have started.  And,  I need your help.  We can meet the challenges of the future if we work together.  Please join me in moving our city forward.
